February 11, 2021
Dear Families,
I hope you are heading into the next week with a plan to be with your children and not talk ZOOM, or cameras, or Google Classroom, or assignments. It is time for silly conversations and fun activities to fill your time together. Without a doubt - everyone is in school this year - in unexpected ways!
When we return from the break, our school will reopen on February 25 for the renewal of the Blended Learning Experience. We will be preparing the school and deep cleaning the classrooms and chrome books, distributing PPE, and getting ready to greet your children at the door.
The students who are learning remotely at home will have pauses as teachers glide into rooms to start classes, but everyone is used to this routine. All of the staff and students did a fantastic job in the fall, so we have no doubt we will get our routines back and up and running.
We asked our staff if they had some kind words of advice for parents. They had wonderful bits and pieces shared below:
FROM OUR STAFF
We are on the same team - your child's team. We want the best for your child too.
We will reach out if your child is falling behind. If you do want this information, please let us know. We can limit our feedback to you if that helps.
We are all doing the best we can, as are you. Let's meet each other with that in mind.
Whenever possible, refrain from asking your students to run errands between 8:30am and 2pm (this also includes watching siblings)
Class starts on time - please make sure to have a timer set for the start of each class day.
Walk in on your child in the middle of class with some water (or even a snack - some mints or candy). Seems like a treat, but just checking to see if they are actually in class.
Please ask teachers questions outside of class instead of popping into the screen during a class.
One of our students had 6000 unread emails! Please sit with your children to check emails and see how everything we post on Google Classroom, from feedback comments to grades and assignments, gets an email reminder.
ADVISORY
Thanks to the very smart work of Ilene, Val, Katie, and Fish, we are NOT changing the Advisory groups or Advisors! All good news.
75 MORTON DIRECT APPEAL
And now a reminder about our ONGOING 75 Morton Direct Appeal. We are still hoping to raise $50,000 more this school year to meet our goal. That big number can be reached if every family donates $75 for 75 Morton. That’s $15 a month from February to June.
Please help us continue to grow 75 Morton together and donate $75 for 75 Morton. We are grateful for any contribution that allows us to do the best for your children.
With Respect,
Jacqui
