Dear Families,
The buzz in Education is about “Looking Back to Look Forward.” Educators around the world are collecting ideas, best practices, data, and anecdotes so we capture this past year and use the information wisely as we move into the next school year.
In the coming weeks we will tap into your ideas and the things you have learned from this ongoing experience - your observations of your children, your reflection of your parenting techniques, and the new skills you developed being involved in education in a new way. All of these learnings will be so useful for our growth as a community.
During a recent Principal Conference, we read an article that had 4 categories of proposed focus for all communities.
- Naming practices that worked
- Nourishing practices that are starting to take root and helping them grow
- Connecting educators (and I will add PARENTS) with similar instincts and interests
- Growing expertise
It is exciting to think about how much our families, all of you, have accomplished, learned, and grown alongside your children and the staff. This journey has been, and continues to teach us, about resilience, patience, trust, and hope.
The SLT, School Leadership Team, will reach out in the coming weeks to tap into your ideas via a survey. We are looking forward to creating an even stronger team of families-students-teachers for 75 Morton.
Speaking of creating an even stronger team, we have invited our friends Drs. Kenneth Saunders and Renee Blake along with 75 Morton parent, Dr. Cheryl Wu, for a Town Hall #RacismIsAVirus on Thursday, March 25 at 6pm to acknowledge the victims of anti-Asian hate violence and create space to share sentiments. We hope you will join us for this important conversation. Click here to register for the zoom link.
As we move towards vacation in a week, we will be sending your children off with our 3rd MORTON DAY on March 26. The staff is enjoying these community building opportunities with your children and we are so pleased by how the 75 Morton Thunderbolt students have participated!
With Respect,
Jacqui
