SUBJECT: You CAN Help 75 Morton!

May 19, 2020

Dear Families,

Many of you have been emailing to ask how you can help 75 Morton both during these trying times and moving forward. Please read on for a letter from our precious and, now more than ever, essential PTA.

With Respect,

Jacqui

Dear 75 Morton Community,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and well.  During this time when many of us are suffering and struggling, we want to thank you.  Thank you to those of you who are doing essential work in this time of pandemic, and thank you to those who have volunteered and made donations to the less fortunate.  We know we speak for our entire community when we express how grateful we all are.

We also want to thank those of you who have volunteered for and made donations to the school in the past.  Your generosity has made 75 Morton the thriving educational community that it is.  It is not an exaggeration to say that the school could not be what it is without your generosity.

The pandemic has impacted our community in many ways including what is likely to be draconian cuts to the DOE budget.  As it is, the DOE pays for little more than teacher and staff salaries. With the upcoming cuts, we can anticipate large reductions to areas we all consider essential. There is no doubt that the little that the DOE put towards academic enrichment and supplies will be cut altogether.

We are also anticipating a $30K PTA budget deficit this year due to the cancellation of the auction.  This will make it difficult to fill the many gaps the reduced DOE budget will create.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

We are asking you to come together as a community to ensure that our children continue to receive the excellent education they deserve.  For 6th and 7th grade parents, your generosity is essential to supporting your children’s learning moving forward.  For 8th grade parents, we hope you will support the school that you pioneered and founded.

Please click here and give as generously as you are able.  We understand that these are times of deep uncertainty and that many of you will simply not be able to make a donation.  But for those of you who can, we hope that you will donate to one of the most important causes of all, your children’s education.  Any amount you give will be gratefully received.

Thank you.  It is our great privilege to work with all of you and continue to build our wonderful school and community.  Be safe and be well.

Sincerely,

Bob Osborne, Fundraising Committee Chair, 75 Morton PTA

Alexandra van Schie and Stella Chang, Co-Presidents, 75 Morton PTA
